Emoji Data & Annotations

Emoji names, annotations, shortcodes, and metadata on Emojipedix are derived from the following open-source and open-data projects:

• Unicode CLDR — Emoji short names and keyword annotations are based on the Unicode Common Locale Data Repository. CLDR data is released under the Unicode License.
• emojibase — Structured emoji data (codepoints, groups, subgroups, skins, shortcodes) is sourced from emojibase, released under the MIT License.

Emoji Images & Rendering

Emojipedix displays emoji using your device's native system font. We do not host or redistribute emoji image assets. The emoji you see are rendered by your operating system or browser using their built-in emoji fonts (e.g. Apple Color Emoji, Google Noto Color Emoji, Microsoft Segoe UI Emoji, Samsung One UI).

For reference, the following open-source emoji image sets exist and may be used in future features:

• Noto Color Emoji (Google) — GitHub. Licensed under Apache License 2.0.
